About REDFLAG DESK

REDFLAG DESK: the four flags RED, DOUBLE YELLOW, YELLOW and BLUE

The flag tells you how urgent it is

REDFLAG DESK is security news for people who build and run websites. In Formula 1, marshals warn drivers of danger with flags. In the same way, we show how urgent each vulnerability or breach is for you with four flags: RED, DOUBLE YELLOW, YELLOW and BLUE.

The four flags

RED FLAG

Red flag: session stopped

Act now

Exploitation confirmed with major impact. Assigned only when listed in CISA KEV or confirmed by a primary source.

DOUBLE YELLOW FLAG

Double yellow: great danger, be ready to stop

Patch promptly

Severe impact with a public exploit or reported (unconfirmed) exploitation, including RED candidates under review.

YELLOW FLAG

Yellow flag: caution, slow down

Review and plan

Conditional updates, investigation or recovery follow-ups, and regulatory deadlines.

BLUE FLAG

Blue flag: be aware

For awareness

Policy, research, industry trends and guides that need no immediate technical action.

RED only by fixed rules

An AI suggestion alone never yields RED. We require a CISA KEV listing or a programmatic match of an exploitation statement in a vendor or government primary source.

How we use AI

We use Claude (Anthropic) to triage sources and draft bilingual summaries. Versions are filled from data; unknown facts are marked as unconfirmed.

Corrections and updates

Flag changes, new fixed versions, wider impact and corrections are added as new revisions. Earlier revisions are kept.
